a room for a househarvard gsd

This project explore the “proximities within reflexive formalism” in architecture through the design of an outdoor temporary gallery for architecture, in Ghent NY. One architectural model is made to house another - a room, for a house, on a path, in a forest, in a sculpture park, near a town, away from the city. The models, installed in-situ at Art Omi, were recorded through photography, stop motion, and video. This content was assembled into a film that explores relationships of scale between territory, landscape, building, user, and architectural object. A 700 foot long gallery for architecture is proposed along a path in the forest - a single long roof structure, supported by vitrines that toggle their orientation between object and landscape. The nested double gable roof structure rungs along the length of the building, opening selectively in accordance with the vitrines to allow light and air, and to frame both the models and the landscape beyond.
